I have treasured memories of my first valentine dinner with my husband at this restaurant in 2001, and the elegance and romantic ambiance of the place have been with me eversince.

We took the opportunity to go back to the restaurant during Restaurant Week (Jan. 27-31, 2003) and as always, we were not disappointed. While this is pricey for a regular dinner, Restaurant Week saw them offering $30 prix fix selections, while still offering their regular $59 prix fix menu. The hubby and I started off with their Wild Mushroom soup which was light yet filling. For the entree, I picked the Roast Pork Loin, a modest version of their Lightly Smoked Rack of Port which was served with an orang jalapeno glaze, baby root vegetables and star anise-scented potato puree which was just heavenly! My husband had the Salmon but wished later that he had taken my lead and chosen the pork loin. The prix fix came with dessert and we picked their classic Creme Brulee.

The $30 prix fix, combined with a bottle of sparkling water, a decent bottle of pinot noir and coffee at the end of the meal came out to $65 per person plus gratuity. With the kind of service you get from the staff at the restaurant, you will definitely go for the 20% tip instead of the standard 15%. While this is a place which you wouldn't go to on a regular basis, One if by Land, Two if by Sea is definitely the place to go to if you are celebrating something special.
